Paola
Schmitt, eine noch junge Künstlerin mit deutscher Abstammung, hat sich
hier in Panama schon einen guten Namen machen können. Ihre Ausstellungen
zeigen, wie gross das Interesse an ihren teilweise experimentellen Werken
ist. Sie beschränkt sich dabei nicht nur auf die Malerei, sondern auch
auf fotografische Werke verbunden mit kreativen Darstellungsformen. Ihr
Galeriecafe in Panama ist mittlerweile ein beliebter Treffpunkt für Kunstinteressierte
geworden. Dabei muss ich aber auch die exquisite Küche erwähnen. Für Panamábesucher

Paola Schmitt (1972) grows and receives her artistic stimulus in Zaragoza
(Spain) for her grandmother side, the painter Paquita Torres. In 1984
they move to Panama, country where she lives at present. Her professional
studies are in management business, with a degree and a mastership in
business administration. However, looking for a lager artistic knowledge
she participates at the Armando's Granja sculpture studio, Quimera studio
(1996-2000), and attend to many different workshops at the National University,
fine arts faculty (1998-1999). She worked freelance with the Brazilian
painter Josaine Borneo (2000-2001), coursed intensive paint studies at
the visual arts school, New York (2001) and participate in painter Juan
Doffo's workshop and graphic artist Carla Rey, Buenos Aires, Argentina
(2002). Paola Schmitt has been in the management of San Felipe festival,
a festival dedicate to art in all it expressions, plastic, music, theatre,
literature, dance and film. That took place in Panama City in March 2001-2002.
In 2003 she opened the restaurant "La Bohčme" and runs it's gallery's
events. In 1999, presents her first pictorical exhibition since when she
participates in collectives and individual exhibitions. Until today has
been displayed in Panama, Miami, Buenos Aires and New York.
